The Capitals have fired General Manager George McPhee. George has been a mainstay in the Capitals organization for the past 14 years. It came as a shock to not only him and his family but the entire Capitals organization. Mr. McPhee will be missed. Ted Leonsis told the the press the following statement.
Ted: We have been searching for a replacement GM for sometime now as we feel to part ways and have a fresh start. We have the utmost respect for George but it was time to part ways.
The Capitals have instead hired 21 year old Kevin Bobbyluo. The young man has become the youngest general manager in league history. Not much is known about the youngster except that he is known for being willing to make big moves as he handled the Hershey Bears (AHL affiliate for Washington) in the past year. Expect to see some youth injected into the lineup and some changes to occur. The following statement was given from Kevin:
Kevin: I accept the opportunity to work in the big league. Expect changes to come to the team's lineup with preseason already beginning.
